Tots Tuesdays Storytime in the VLP Library

When the Village Learning Place (VLP) in Charles Village began assessing the Pre-Kindergarten students entering the LINK After School program, they found that many students lack the basic literacy skills they need to thrive in school.

Engaging babies and toddlers in meaningful activities like reading, singing and playing in the home is essential to provide them will the skills they need to read and be successful in school.

So VLP is teaming up with GiveCorps to provide weekly story times for children ages 0-5 and their caregivers, including the award-winning Mother Goose on the Loose model programming for ages 0-3. Children and their caretakers will engage in books, imagination, rhyme, song, crafts, play and FUN – and take these skills into their homes to further early literacy skills.

Each story time will familiarize young learners with concepts of print, words, books and music, encourage family involvement to instill the importance of literacy.

Your gift will bring books, music, crafts, imagination and so much more to the early childhood education program at VLP.  In fact, you can provide a full month of literacy-building craft supplies for only $15. Let’s make it happen!
