This week, photographers Theresa Keil and Larry Cohen bring back gorgeous images from Sowebo Festival, arguably one of the city’s most beloved neighborhood festivals. There’s something wholly authentic about this event that happens annually in Southwest Baltimore. Maybe it’s the diversity of peoples that come out and celebrate together. Maybe it’s that the setting is a neighborhood whose ongoing struggle for stability reflects the trials that our city faces as a whole. For whatever reason, this festival and these photos speak to the essence of our city, and the good folks that call it home.
