The Big Photo

I have enough trouble hitting the toilet with the lights off much less operating a bicycle in such a fashion as to entertain anyone besides my mother who will applaud no matter how foolish I look. Such is not the case for BMX rider Matt Gilman who just happens to be blind. Here’s what Theresa Keil had to say about her encounter.

“I watched this guy jumping his bike up and down these wooden platforms as if on a pogo stick. I thought to myself wow, what balance and strength. Then I spoke to him and realized that he was blind. A type one diabetic since childhood, he lost his vision at age 24 from complications. At one time he was a competitive BMX and trials rider but after 20 or so surgeries, and the near complete loss of his vision, his riding days were over. He was told that we would never ride again, it was too dangerous. So, for about two years he didn’t ride at all. One day he just couldn’t stand it any more and got on anyway though he promptly fell off. Eventually, he learned to balance and ride all over again. He now rides and competes and is reaching out to motivate others with disabilities.” -Theresa Keil

“The LORD did not set his affection on you and choose you because you beards were more glorious than other peoples, for your beards were the scraggliest of all peoples.” -Moses at The Charm City Mustache Championship.

John Buckler won the freestyle division of the Charm City Mustache Championship by first growing a glorious face full of fur and then applying a patent pending, anti-gravity pomade.

A solemn hush washed over the crowd as the spectators stood speechless in the presence of what can only be described as, “pure awesomeness.” The sheer breadth and quality of the facial hair represented this year was astounding to say the least. Take a moment and wallow in the grandeur of these beards. Cherish them, for they are timeless.

No one was fooled by Dennis Pradhan’s attempt to enhance his upper lip by way of caterpillar. Especially when said caterpillar suffered a bout of anxiety and decided to hide within Dennis’ nostril. Kudos to Dennis for ingenuity and better luck next year.
