The lobby of The Senator looked more like an art gallery than a movie house when Fortune5Fifty took over for the night and proceeded to fill the space with art and artists and DJ’s in the mezzanine, which was undoubtedly what the original architects had intended. The inside of the theater was a feast for the senses as clips from old sci fi movies were shown on the big screen, musicians rocked the stage and dancers filled the aisles where movie goers once sat.
Austin Widdowson, founder of Fortune5Fifty, with Mike Brenner and Lindsey Vitek. The show lived up to Fortune5Fifty’s mission of creating conscious entertainment in Baltimore – “where MTV went wrong and where Rolling Stone can’t go.”
The night was made complete with music from Orchard Lounge, Auto Body (with Felix from Future Rock), Segway, Sonic Spank (with Ian McGuire) and Marm0set. We love the enthusiasm and determination of these guys and predict that Fortune5Fifty will take the Baltimore entertainment industry to new heights.

The DJ formerly known as Knowledge, Neil Kurland, and Grace Walter were out and about promoting The Visionary Solstice Gathering. The Visionary Solstice Gathering is organized in part by their company Soul Mob Productions. Apparently, it wasn’t enough for Neil to be a world class turntablist; he also found it necessary to conquer the realm of entrepreneurship. Good luck on the show next week. We met our new friend, Hank Vohrer, painting in the lobby of The Senator Theater. Besides being an intriguing painter and a cinematographer, he also has one of the best personal domain names we’ve heard yet. Though he has yet to launch his site, keep an eye out for Hanktastic.com, we predict good things soon.
