In the wake of the ongoing collapse of the tyrannical, greed ridden music mega-industry, several enterprising young innovators have stepped up to seize the opportunity to empower themselves and others. One such congregation of music makers have assembled under a cooperative record label they like to call Loveasaurus Records.

Recently they released their first offering, EatAHeart, a compilation of the label’s current artists. The collection covers a broad range of musical territory, touching on too many genres to list and exploring a few that have yet to be defined. The label, the music and the good people involved are all inspirational.

The label’s next show featuring Ike Shark, Jeff Brunell and Umu Umuu is tonight at the The Zoo.

Loveasaurus is a community based record label, the first in Baltimore to the best of my knowledge. Due to the exorbitant cost of spending time in a recording studio, founders Jason Reed and Kristi Allen decided there was a place for a record label that trades recording time for volunteerism. Both Jason and Kristi work for Child First Authority.

Loveasaurus’ first release, EatAHeart, was produced entirely with donations and volunteerism. All 600 of the first CD’s and the modified children’s books that act as cases for them were donated by friends and local businesses. You can listen to and download the music for free at their website and leave a donation if you wish.
