1. Loop with The Flying Eyes at Metro Gallery

Rock Veterans Return

This will be part of LOOP’s first performance in twenty years (the last time they were in Baltimore was with Nirvana!) LOOP was formed in Croydon, London, 1986 by Robert Hampson (vocals/ guitar) and partner Beki Stewart (Bex) on drums. After finding Glen Ray on bass, through an advert in Melody Maker, they began to perform live and were quickly signed to HEAD Records run by Jeff Barrett (Heavenly) who released their feedback-drenched debut 12” 16 Dreams.

2. Free Yoga at the Chicken Box in Station North

Stretch Your Body, Not Your Wallet

Another rare double endorsement form What Weekly – but FREE yoga is hard to beat.  Healthy for body mind and in this case wallet. From the organizers: “Station North has partnered with Charm City Yoga to present Free Yoga Fridays: free yoga offered to the community every Friday during Open Walls!”

3. Curse and Extended Release at the Sidebar

Hard Synths and Spikes

Baltimore locals headline everyone’s favorite downtown punk venue, The Sidebar.   Be prepared for some hard synths and goth/death-rock flavored punk from our friends in CURSE

4. Playnerd Burlesque Magazine Party

Racy AND Nerdy

Playnerd Magazine and Michael J. Friedensreich present: The PlayNerd Party! Burlesque photographer Zach “Tuff Nerd ” Morehouse is bringing the party to the same street that houses our What Weekly offices.  From Zach: “Come celebrate the rebirth of PlayNerd Magazine with performers, models, and some of the areas hottest DJ’s, spinning some sexy sci-fi sounds!”

5. Poetry at Beatnik

Baltimore’s Poetic Underground

Here’s what the organizers are sending your way: “Mark your calendar: Thursday, April 17th. 7PM. Beatnik is hosting Row Home Lit’s launch party! History will be made, delicious drinks will be had, and we will hear amazing poetry.” We’re sure everyone’s favorite hole-in-the-wall on 21st street is a great intimate room for poetry.
