The H&H Building shared a trifecta of openings as Nudashank presented ‘New Painthings’ by Ted Gahl and Tatiana Berg, Gallery Four presented ‘Terms of Use’ and the ‘Animal Attraction’ exhibit opened at the Whole Gallery.
Maggie Burke, Alex Ebstein, Tatiana Berg and Edward Max Fendly at Nudashank in the H&H. Alex Berg is co-founder of Nudashank. It’s their mission to showcase young artists like Tatiana Berg, pictured here, with her tents and paintings. It’s awfully suspicious that Tatiana’s work appears to have been specifically designed to serve as the perfect setting for the four artists scattered among it. We assure you that the effect is purely coincidental. Proof that art begets art.

Residents and curators of Gallery Four at the opening of ‘Terms of Use.‘ Nick Karvounis is a part of the faculty at MICA, Edward Winter is a photographer and Dustin Carlson is a sculptor and co-founder of Gallery Four.

Benjamin Kelley with his installation entitled ‘But It is Not Everything.’ If you look closely at the tube, you’ll see a bit of whitish debris. You guessed right: Human bones. These crushed bones are sucked from one cylinder to the other via vacuum and time delay. Where does one obtain human bones for such an endeavor? You guessed right again: The Internet. They’re mail order phalanges crushed with a hammer by Benjamin himself.
For the record, Benjamin seems like a completely well-adjusted and genuinely happy individual. Furthermore, I’d like to nominate this installation as the most interesting thing we’ve seen all week.

Chaney Lane Trotter and Jennifer Coster pictured beside Chaney’s painting ‘Dismember, Amalgmate, Release’ at the opening of ‘Animal Attraction’ at The Whole Gallery. We knew the theme was animal, and although we couldn’t discern exactly what animal was presented here, this painting had the eerie and beautiful quality of The Other. Stellar work.

Ryan Smith, Karla Cott, Sarah Jacobs and Virginia Wagner at the opening for ‘Animal Attraction’ at The Whole Gallery. Sarah organized the event and is creator of ‘Brute’ lurking in the background. The bruin struck us immediately upon exiting the questionable and always entertaining H&H elevator.
