Baltimore Design Week 2014

This weekend marks the kicking off of AIGA Baltimore’s 3rd annual Design Week. While also celebrating a century of design, AIGA, the professional association for design, aims to promote design by encouraging designers and non-designers alike to participate in interactive activities hosted throughout the week. As stated in their press release, AIGA Co-President Jennifer Marin says that “AIGA’s centennial is a chance to look back in our roots as designers and look forward to our growing impact in society,” and that “It’s very important that we bring design to our communities, not just to other designers”.

After the immense success of last year’s week, there are high hopes for Design Week 2014.   This year, the Charm City Type Challenge returns (with many prizes up for grabs!) as well as more Studio Tours; this time with Hyperspace, Storyfarm, and Groove Commerce.

Centered in the greater-Baltimore area, the event line-up includes a talk on the designing of the Baltimore Museum of Art’s “Big Table” and the ins and outs of Marketing for the Baltimore Ravens. The events also feature speakers such as Senior NPR Product Designer Benjamin Dauer, Senior Manager of Digital Media for the Baltimore Ravens David Lang, and Award-winning designer Abbott Miller, and many more. Design Week 2014 is definitely something you don’t want to miss, so come out with your friends and get creative!

The festivities begin on Saturday, October 18th, and will last until October 25th. Make sure to show your support by tagging #bmoreDW14 on your twitter, instagram, and Facebook! Pre-registration and admission prices for each event can be found on their website. For pricing and more information, visit bmoreaiga.org.
