If one were to follow a sport, it would be best to follow soccer as it transcends borders, languages and cultures. You could be at a bar anywhere in the world and find someone that is eager to express their feelings on the sport at length, or better yet; the next time you see two people arguing I recommend you check to make sure neither of them have weapons and then put a soccer ball at their feet and say, “There’s only one way to settle this.”

In the wake of the World cup and last month’s game between Inter Milan and Manchester City at M&T Bank Stadium, Mob Town is still finding itself caught in the grips of soccer fever. This time it was the 6th annual Mayors cup which coincided with the Baltimore International Festival at Poly Tech. It seemed only fitting that the Mayors Cup take place at the International festival considering it is the most popular sport in the entire world.

There were forty games played between 20 teams on Saturday and after 10 hours of play the winner was still undetermined, leaving spectators fraught with anticipation for the next day’s matches. Everyone still managed to let their inner animal loose when Let the Monkey Go took the stage for two sets of energized Funk Rock.

Judy Dorsey showcased the wonderful cranial accessories that were available at this year’s festival. Please note that no zebras were harmed in the making of this article.

So as you may have guessed, What Weekly doesn’t normally cover sports, which makes commenting on sports somewhat foreign. I could try to emulate a sports writer by saying that the athleticism portrayed in this photo is a testament to the work and skill that goes into such a timeless sport, but those words wouldn’t really be honest. What would be honest is the following. “Holy Shit! It looks like that guy is about to break his ankle kicking that ball into that poor guys face! Is this really what soccer is like? My god. No wonder people get so excited over it.”

I have a secret that some of you may not know. You see…. if you are physically active and exercise (pause for dramatic effect) you can eat foot and you don’t have to worry about gaining weight. The team from Cameroon was doing it right before they won against Niger Republic 1-0 in the final match.
