Gypsies! I wasn’t even aware that there was an international Roma day until I was duly educated by a whole crew of Romanians who took over Joe Squared for the night and proceeded to throw a hell of party. Seriously, we went to Joe’s to put down the camera and relax until Balti Mare hit the stage and we were compelled to include them in this week’s issue. Good job guys, Baltimore is lucky to have you.

By the time we left Joe Squared the dance floor was full, the plum brandy was flowing and everybody was having way too much fun for a Thursday. Much of the time they were singing, in what I’m assuming was Romanian (which was perfect because I’ve been meaning to learn Romanian for quite some time and I’m sure that if I keep going to their shows and I keep drinking slivovitz I’ll be speaking the language in no time).

What I’m trying to say here is: Go see this band and we’ll see you there.
