Back to the Future

The genius behind having a costume party based on Back to the Future is that you can pretty much wear just about anything and fit right in. Case in point, the guy in the big picture above looks more like someone out of a New Order video rather than a furious Lybian chasing down pirated plutonium. The truth is there aren’t enough opportunities for men to break out their skin tight, shiny, hooded jumpsuits for a night on the town. This is where the Creative Alliance comes in. As if it weren’t enough to host brilliant programming in the Patterson Theater as well as workshops, classes and gathering of all kinds, they also provide the citizenry of Baltimore one of the best opportunities of the year to dress as absurd as we see fit. It’s the Marquee Ball, folks, one of the best parties of the year and it looks something like this.

Behold the winners of this weeks prestigious and highly coveted, “It Wasn’t Enough For You To Just Stand In Front Of The Camera And Let The Image Happen You Performed For The Lens And For That You Were Almost The Lead Photo But Yellow Jumpsuit Man In Front Of The Hair Dryers Has A Certain Absurdity That We Can’t Resist,” award. Don’t consider this second place, think of it as first runner up.

Hey, remember the scene from Back to the Futurewhere the tinsel haired lady tickled the Green Hornet’s wife while being stalked by the guy in the chrome fedora? Niether do I, but there should have been one.

Stephanie Murdock has the best job title in the city, President of the Baltimore Skatepark. Can you imagine being at a Skatepark and being like, “Now hear this I’m imposing a poser tax, that’s right, I’m President of the Skatepark, deal with it. Yo, every one off the ramp I’m dropping in. I’m totally the President of this here Skatepark.”
