What do snakes, dragons, fire have to do with fashion? Tthe answer to that very question will be answered at the Crazy Russian during the Interrupted Show on April 7th . What began as a fashion show has quickly evolved into a mesmerizing multi-media performance spectacle.

Alena Interrupted, a Baltimore based model and photographer, is organizing the show, bringing together performers in an “exhibition of talent and art.” She mentions that the inspiration for the show came from an observed and experienced under appreciation for models, “People seem to think a model is just a piece of clay that people use, let’s prove that wrong, let’s turn this clay to life, Interrupt the peace and create some amazing stuff that Baltimore has never seen before (at least not all at once)!”

Having moved to Baltimore from the Ukraine by way of New York at the age of six, Alena always desired to be a model, “It’s every little girls dream,” she remarked. Just when she was about to give up on that dream, photographer George Skepton encouraged her to give it a shot. “He introduced me to the whole world,” says Alena. Alena currently models for Leesa Robinson Agency of the Mid-Atlantic and MTM Agency through Jill Roach, though she  dreams of having her own agency one day, and seeing the traveling the world as a photographer. Fulfilling her immediate wanderlust, Alena is taking a trip to Norway for a photo shoot just before her event, though has planned accordingly and is coordinating the last minute details from across the Atlantic.

Alena understands how even the tiniest detail can skew the outcome of a photo shoot and is applying that knowledge and philosophy to this event. “People have been asking me, ‘wait, you do events?’ I like to keep them guessing.” In an industry where it is easy to pigeonhole someone for their work, Alena is certainly keeping it interesting. She is bringing together photographers, acoustic performers, and dancers of many sorts, all tied together with fashion, for what promises to be a magnificent evening. So if you enjoy burlesque, costuming, you want to face your fear of snakes, or you just really want to know what on earth the dragons are all about, the Interrupted Show is where you want to be.

The show is on April 7th, with doors opening at 7 pm and the performances going from 8-11 pm with an after party from 11-2 (18+, 21 to drink). The Crazy Russian is located at 8209 Pulaski Highway in Rosedale. Tickets can be purchased at the door the night of the event for $10.00 or in advance through Alena. Ticket price includes the performances as well as Russian / Ukrainian catering by Vita Gurvich. For a full list of performers and their websites, see below.
