23 June 2014

No doubt we live in the information age. Media consumed today is not limited to large broadcasting conglomerates; increasingly, it is decentralizing, digitizing and making itself available to anyone through the internet. More people can create news stories, and more people can follow what they want to read. Due to this information culture fueled the internet, digital significance may be the most pressing issue of current times for news outlets. The 2014 New York Times Innovation Report, leaked this past spring, focuses on this transition into the digital medium and its difficulty. It is a peek into one of the major news outlets of this country and their anxieties — anxieties all news outlets share.

Innovation Enterprise, an independent media brand “focused on the information needs of Senior Big Data, Strategy, Advanced Analytics, Strategy, Innovation, Digital, Finance, Operations, Publishing and Decision Support executives,” functioning on the “belief of the power of information to spur innovation,” realizes the significance of digital publishing. On July 16 and 17, Innovation Enterprise will be hosting a conference, “Digital Publishing Innovation Summit: Proven Digital Strategies to Stay Competitive within Publishing.” Featuring over 30 industry speakers and over 150 delegates, this gathering is focused on the future of publishing — specifically, in its digital form.

In line with Innovation Enterprise’s belief in the power of information, this summit is an opportunity for sharing knowledge and networking among companies and executives with similar purposes and expansive experience. Among its speakers are executives from SalonThe Huffington PostThe OnionBBCBuzzFeed, and The Atlantic. Major news outlets including Forbes and The New York Times will be at the summit. Of course, this is an event based on innovation through the digital medium, so naturally, all sessions from the event will be available as online videos to attendees of the event. The summit is more than just presentations and networking; it also offers over 15 specific case studies from Fortune 500 companies, as well as workshops with industry leaders.

With screaming digital, and sponsors composed of mainly software companies and hashtags, likes, and groups on every major social media website, Innovation Enterprise’s “Digital Publishing Innovation Summit” is an excursion into the future of publishing.
