Grave Situation

★ What Weekly

I am in limbo.  We wrapped ROWS a few weeks back, but I still have some second unit stuff to shoot before fall hits and the corn turns totally brown. Though the hurricane’s over, it’s still raining every day, so it’s kind of impossible to get anything done.  As for editing, I’ve been waiting to see how the software situation pans out before committing.  Meanwhile, it seems the demise of Final Cut Pro may have been prematurely announced. Word is they are putting FCP-7 (the last good version) back on the market.  Whether or not they will offer support remains unclear, but clearly they heard the message that professional people were pissed off and jumping ship, so they are back-pedaling.

This week marks back-to-school time for many, including me.  I am teaching college students about storytelling, for movies.  But my brain is still lost out there in the cornfields.  I just read Phillip Laubner’s profile on Lauren Lakis , an excellent actress. I see her everyday, or at least it feels like I do, because I see images of her and hear her voice everyday while looking at footage from ROWS.  The same is true of Joe Basile, Kenneth Hughes, Hannah Schick, and Nancy Murray.  Hearing them and seeing them everyday, it’s like I live with them.  But I do have a life outside of this movie.  I think.
