After high school, Antoine was headed for the Marine Corps and a bright future; until a moment of weakness led to an assault charge and prison sentence.
Upon his release, Antoine was ready to make a difference in his life. Unfortunately, his past hindered his ability to find fulfilling work that paid a living wage. So he turned to JumpStart and the Job Opportunities Task Force (JOTF).
In JumpStart, a pre-apprenticeship construction training program run by JOTF, Antoine honed his building and math skills. After graduating, JumpStart provided Antoine with a tool belt and tool items he’d be expected to bring to the job site.
Equipped with the education and tools he needed, Antoine easily earned a job at Scaffold Resource, LLC where he has doubled his salary and earned a supervisory position since starting with the company more than a year ago.
JOTF is expanding the JumpStart program to help more people like Antoine, which means more graduates will need tools and tool belts so they can get to work.
JOTF has partnered with GiveCorps to make sure that 25 new graduates will be ready to start work with all the starter tools required to walk onto a job site. Employers won’t hire workers without the right tools to get the job done – let’s make sure these workers are ready.
