The Baltimore Rock Opera Society is accepting auditionees for MURDERCASTLE, a new show to be staged in Baltimore, May of 2013.
Auditions will take place: January 19th 2pm & 5pm & January 20th 1pm & 4pm
at
The Bell Foundry 1st Floor, 1539 N. Calvert St., Baltimore, MD 21202

MURDERCASTLE is a world-premiere, original staged rock opera, set in Chicago in 1893.  MURDERCASTLE recounts the tale of America’s first serial killer, H.H. Holmes – the empire he created, and the brutal fate of his victims. Set to a musical score ranging from death metal to orchestral strings, BROS will be going back in time to the World’s Fair in Chicago for our biggest, darkest, most ambitious show to date.

MURDERCASTLE will premiere on May 10th of 2013 and run three weekends at the Autograph Playhouse in Baltimore, MD.

PLEASE RSVP to BROS.AUDITIONS@GMAIL.COM to reserve a slot for our group auditions.

Group auditions will begin promptly on the hour for each session. Please RSVP to bros.auditions@gmail.com to reserve an audition slot. Walk-ins accepted if they arrive 20 mins before the scheduled audition slot. Please dress warmly and be prepared to MOVE.

CASTING NOTES:

We will be casting all of our lead parts and a large ensemble of singers/actors and variety show performers from this audition. Strong Male and Female actor/singers in a variety of ages are needed for 6 lead roles. Secondary characters and ensemble of up to 20 singing/speaking parts will be cast.  Young actors are highly encouraged to attend and can expect a warm welcome.

AUDITION GUIDELINES:

Be prepared to show us SOMETHING for your audition. The preferred format is a monologue (2 minutes max) and an unaccompanied song that displays what you can do with your voice.  However, we also are happy to see less orthodox audition material. Here are a few things to keep in mind:

-Everyone will be asked to sing. Please prepare something that shows us your ability without accompaniment.  If you have recorded accompaniment you may bring it along with the playback device.  (1/8″ aux input provided to plug in ipod etc)

-We are especially interested in folks with multiple talents. Actor/singers are great but so are circus artists, musicians (winds, brass, strings, folk, percussion etc) dancers of all kinds (ballroom, lindy, tap, experimental) comedians, magicians etc.  Some of the roles of this show may be dictated by the types of talent we have interested so bring the best of what you’ve got.

-The MONOLOGUE portion of your audition may be something other than a traditional monologue as long as it involves some talking and some moving.

-You will be auditioning as part of a larger group, and as an individual in front of a welcoming and supportive audience of your fellow auditionees.

-If you reserve an audition slot you can expect your group audition to be finished within 2 hours of the reserved time.

-The Bell Foundry might get chilly.  Please dress warmly. Layers are encouraged as we will be doing some movement exercises.

-Please direct questions and clarifications to BROS.AUDITIONS@GMAIL.COM. This address will be monitored throughout the auditions. It is the best and fastest way to get your questions answered.
