Local filmmaker Chris LaMartina brings us this old-school style horror movie: “When a virginal artist falls in love with a call girl, she turns out to be the chosen bride of the alien god Cthulhu. To save her, he must stop an ancient cult from summoning their god and destroying mankind.”

2. Three Composers Series with Dan Deacon

Classical meets Contemporary

Dan Deacon will premier a composition for a MIDI controlled church organ in this free show at a beautiful Mt. Vernon Church along with Adam Lempel and Sunatirene.

3. Save Your Soul with Mr. Fine Wine at Metro Gallery

Movies, Dancing and More

Mr. Fine Wine grew up in Detroit in the 1960s and ’70s, surrounded by music and by music-industry people. He went to school with the offspring of Motown stars; his uncle (believe it or not!) taught John Lee Hooker how to play guitar chords and owned the local record label Tuba. An avid collector of soul 45s for 25 years, Fine Wine started DJ’ing soon after he relocated to New York City. His radio show, “Downtown Soulville” This exciting event ties in with the MD Film Fest goings on.

4. Pictureplane with Chiffon and Abdu Ali at Metro Gallery

New York meets Baltimore again

Originally hailing from Denver, Colorado, Pictureplane (real name Travis Egedy) was a driving force in making the city one of the most influential DIY towns in the world; thanks in large part to Pictureplane’s legendary shows at his former Denver home Rhinoceropolis, his raging club night, Come see him with local favorites, Chiffon and Abdu Ali.

5. Parlor Plays by Peter Davis

Theatre Gets Intimate

Church and Company offers the warmth of a home and the vibe of a salon. C and C will offer craft cocktails for cash donations. You may also bring your own beer. Liquor store across the street! Come to the 7pm show and have dinner after in Hampden after. Or have your meal and come to the 9pm show.

6. Charm City Comedy Festival

Baltimore Stands Up

The Charm City Comedy Festival, first of its kind in the region, will take place from Thursday, May 8th through Sunday, May 11th, 2014. With performances from 73 improv, standup, and sketch acts representing Baltimore, Washington, D.C., New York, Philadelphia, Boston, and beyond, this inaugural festival will focus on providing our audiences with the highest quality comedy from reputable performers. And sunday night will feature our own Ezra Winter.
